hubertBW-chiaroHUBERT WESTKEMPER, born on February 3rd, 1953 in Frankfurt (Germany), graduated in 1981 at  the “Hochschule der Künste “ in Berlin as Sound Engineer (Tonmeister). 
Since the early Eighties he lives and works in Italy, presently in Rome.

He dedicates the main part of his work to sound design for  theatre productions, working with several Italian and international directors like Gabriele Salvatores, Carlo Cecchi, Barberio Corsetti, Mario Martone, Gerôme Savary , Bob Wilson, Peter Stein and Luca Ronconi, with whom he collaborates constantly since 1986. 

He gave his contribution to important institutions like Teatro alla Scala, Piccolo Teatro in Milan, Biennale of Venice, Festival of Spoleto, Festival of Salzburg.

In 2005 he won the Award of the National Association of Drama critics and the prestigious UBU Award for the sound design of Electra by Hugo von Hofmannsthal.
He teaches at the Art Academy of Brera  (Millan) since 2006.
